Perrin became eligible for parole in November, but he had trouble finding a job and was scared to call authorities.
“I was scared of getting arrested,” he said.
So Perrin kept quiet.
The deputy, 31, was charged in May with felony criminal sexual conduct.
According to the police affidavit, the woman woke up to find the deputy penetrating her while she was sleeping.
“At first, I’m like ‘Okay’ and I’m like ‘No, this is not right,’” she said. “I kept thinking what would my mother think of me. I didn’t want to go to prison because I don’t want to lose my mother and the rest of my family.”
There is a history of abuse in the Perrin family, according to the affidavit.
The victim’s mother, 57, was sentenced to one to three years in prison in 2001 for attempted rape, burglary and sexual assault. She was released from prison in October.
The victim’s father, 47, was sentenced to two years in prison in 2009 for failure to appear in court and drug possession. He was released in January and has since been in jail for non-payment of court fees.
Perrin said he had no idea he was doing anything wrong until the rape was discovered.
“I was pretty much speechless when I found out,” he said. “I was like ‘This is what I’m supposed to do?’”
Perrin told ABC15 he thought he had a girlfriend.
“I’m a single guy and I got a girl pregnant,” he said. “I thought I had a girlfriend. I didn’t think I was committing any crime.”
The victim, who lives in the same house as her parents, saw a Facebook post from the deputy and saw his photo.
